Trailblazer is a personal project of mine, a third person platformer that has given me the opportunity to explore the genre and make a lot of fun (broken) mechanics. Gameplay involves precision platforming via the delicate control of a pair of high-powered rocket thrusters attached to the protagonist’s back.
Everything in Trailblazer is my own work, and it has given me the opportunity to study many different facets of Unreal Engine 4. This includes the capabilities (and limitations!) of the physics engine, advanced character locomotion using animation blueprints, creating particle effects in both Cascade and Niagara, and how to make myself sick by letting the camera go upside down.
